Bob H. Katz, President & CEO

Prior to joining Aptus Endosystems, Mr. Katz was President of ZOLL Circulation (formerly Revivant Corporation), a wholly owned subsidiary of ZOLL Medical Corporation. Revivant Corporation, a venture capital financed start-up, designs, develops, manufactures the AutoPulse Resuscitation System., a breakthrough technology designed to increase survival from out of hospital sudden cardiac arrest. Mr. Katz's responsibilities at Revivant included guiding the design and development of the company's core technologies, Applied Research, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Regulatory & Clinical Affairs. The company was acquired by ZOLL Medical in 2004

Prior to Revivant Corporation, Mr. Katz held the position of Vice President, Research & Development for Symphonix Devices, a developer and manufacturer of implantable hearing devices. Mr. Katz joined Symphonix as its first full-time employee and helped to develop the company's technology and products, as well as develop its initial strategic directions. The company completed a successful IPO in 1998 and gained PMA approval of its first product in 2000. Prior to Symphonix Devices, Mr. Katz held various engineering and product management positions at Cordis Corporation where he was involved in Advanced Research and Product Development associated with both implantable cardiac rhythm management devices as well as interventional cardiology products. Mr. Katz received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.A. in Business Administration from Rutgers University, a M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and an MBA from Southeastern University.

 

Lee Bolduc, Vice President of Engineering, CTO, Co-Founder

Prior to co-founding Aptus Endosystems, Mr. Bolduc was Vice President of Engineering at Salient Interventional Systems, where he led the engineering effort in the development of a catheter-based neuroperfusion system, bringing the project from concept to a successful OUS clinical study within one year. Prior to joining Salient, Mr. Bolduc was a Director of Engineering at Heartport, a venture financed medical technology company that helped to pioneer the field of minimally invasive cardio-thoracic surgery. At Heartport he led the automated anastomosis and beating heart programs prior to the company's acquisition by Johnson & Johnson.

Mr. Bolduc previously held positions in engineering and development at Origin MedSystems, (acquired by Guidant), designing and developing laparoscopic instruments, and at Omni-Trac Surgical, where he designed and developed surgical instruments and retractor systems. Mr. Bolduc has 16 years of experience in the medical device industry, is listed as an inventor on 61 issued United States patents and holds a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

 

Chris Hubbard, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Prior to joining Aptus Endosystems, Mr. Hubbard was Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Devax, Inc. an emerging company in the bifurcated drug eluting stent market. Mr. Hubbard has a significant track record in market development, new product commercialization, and sales force development.

Prior to Devax, Inc., he held the position of Vice President, Sales & Marketing for Epicor Medical. Epicor Medical, a pioneering technology for the surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation, was acquired by St. Jude Medical in 2004 where he became Vice President, Market Development. He previously held positions at Heartport as Vice President, Global Sales and Guidant Corporation in Sales Management. Mr. Hubbard started his career at Proctor and Gamble after he received his B.S. in Marketing from the University of Illinois. He is currently pursuing his M.B.A. from Benedictine University in Illinois.

 

 

Steve Johnson, Senior Vice President, Operations

Steve Johnson started his career at General Motors until he left to focus on the manufacture of innovative medical devices. He started at Advanced Cardiovascular Systems (ACS), a pioneer in the field of coronary angioplasty. Mr. Johnson started as a Senior Industrial Engineer and later the Vice President of Manufacturing. After ACS, he joined Stanford Surgical Technologies, as Vice President of Manufacturing. SST became Heartport in 1996, which had the largest medical device IPO at the time. Heartport was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 2001.

Mr. Johnson has a long history of success building Operations groups into world class organizations that support worldwide commercial product launches. During his professional career, he has been a guest lecturer and speaker at the graduate schools of management at Stanford University, University of California Riverside and Kettering University. Mr. Johnson graduated from Kettering University with a degree in Industrial Engineering.

 

 

Shari L. Allen, Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs

Prior to joining Aptus Endosystems, Ms. Allen was head of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Bard Peripheral Vascular, Inc., the fastest growing division of C.R. Bard, Inc. Ms. Allen's responsibilities at Bard included developing clinical and regulatory strategies for worldwide approvals and market acceptance of various peripheral vascular devices, including endovascular grafts, stents, IVC filters, and PTA balloons.

Ms. Allen brings 15 years of experience in the execution of both clinical trials and regulatory affairs management. In addition to Bard, Ms. Allen held positions at W.L. Gore & Associates, where she was responsible for managing AAA and TAA endovascular graft clinical trials, which resulted in the successful introduction of these market leading technologies. She has also worked with numerous medical device companies while consulting for AAC, Inc. (Kendall) and Medical Technology Consultants/Biometric Research Institute (Quintiles). Ms. Allen received a B.A. in Biology and Chemistry from University of Virginia.

 

David H. Deaton, M.D., Consultant Medical Officer

David Deaton is Chief of Endovascular Surgery and Associate Professor of Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.. Dr. Deaton has over 15 years experience in the practice vascular surgery. He was an original principle investigator in the earliest endovascular aneurysm repair device trials and has continued to participate in numerous vascular and endovascular device developments and clinical trials over the past 10 years of his clinical practice, with particular interest in aortic, carotid and lower extremity diseases.

Dr. Deaton is a graduate of Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and surgical residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and his fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is board certified in both surgery and vascular surgery and is an active member of the Society for Vascular Surgery and the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society.
