Alan Kaganov, Chairman & Co-Founder

Alan Kaganov has been a partner at the venture firm of US Venture Partners since 1996, specializing in healthcare investments and utilizing his 25 years of experience in the medical device industry. His focus is on early-stage investments in the areas of medical technology, novel drug-device combinations, drug delivery systems and biopharmaceuticals. Prior to joining USVP, Mr. Kaganov was Vice President of New Business Development at Boston Scientific. During his tenure there, the company completed a record number of investments and business alliances and became a market leader in interventional cardiology, radiology and endoscopy.

Prior to Boston Scientific, Mr. Kaganov was CEO of EP Technologies, turning it into the recognized leader in catheter-based electrophysiology, Vice President of Technology and Business Development at Baxter Corporation, and Research & Development Director of the Medical Device Division of Wyeth. He currently serves on the boards of A-Med Systems, Atricure, Cryovascular, Sanarus Medical, St. Francis Medical and Timi3 Systems, as well as Aptus Endosystems.

 

Phil Young, General Partner, US Venture Partners

Prior to joining US Venture Partners, Phil Young was President & CEO of Oximetrix, a manufacturer of critical care instruments and disposables, where he spent 8 years growing the privately-held venture-backed company from $1 million in revenues to nearly $50 million. Prior to Oximetrix, Mr. Young spent 6 years at New Court Securities in venture capital and corporate finance, 2 years as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co., and 6 years on Admiral Rickover's project management staff at the Atomic Energy Commission.

Mr. Young has represented US Venture Partners on the boards of Aerogen, CardioThoracic Systems, CardioVascular Imaging Systems, CoCensys, Compugen, FemRx, Penederm, 3Dfx Interactive, Vical and Xoma--all of which became public companies. Currently Mr. Young sits on the boards of Zoran, a public company, as well as Aptus Endosystems, Bayhill Therapeutics, Caspian Networks, Claria, Dotomi, RelayHealth, Synarc, St. Francis Medical and Timi3 Systems.

 

Marc Galletti, Founder and Managing Director, Longitude Capital

Marc Galletti is a founder and Managing Director of Longitude Capital. He focuses on investments in medical devices and specialty pharmaceuticals, including drug-device combinations. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Galletti was a Senior Vice President of Pequot Ventures where he worked in the life sciences practice.

Prior to Pequot, Mr. Galletti, worked at Amerindo Investment Advisors and Vector Fund Management where prior venture capital investments included Align Technology (NASDAQ: ALGN), CancerVax (acquired by Micromet), Eyetech Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: OSIP) and Theravance (NASDAQ: THRX). Mr. Galletti has also worked in the Global Healthcare Investment Banking Group at J.P. Morgan & Co. Mr. Galletti began his life sciences industry career 16 years ago at APM, a management consultancy dedicated to improving operations performance within large acute-care hospitals. Mr. Galletti currently serves on the Boards of Aptus Endosystems and Velomedix and he has been involved with prior investments in Ablation Frontiers (acquired), Altiva Corporation, Facet Solutions, MAP Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: MAPP), Prestwick Pharmaceuticals (acquired), Sadra Medical, and Threshold Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: THLD).

Mr. Galletti also sits on advisory boards for the Innovation and New Ventures Office at Northwestern University, the Program for Biomedical Engineering at Brown University and AdvaMed. Mr. Galletti holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and an A.B. from Princeton University.

 

Jeff Elkins, President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Jeff Elkins joined Aptus Endosystems from FlowMedica, a commercial stage company focused on endovascular treatments for acute kidney injury, where he was Chief Executive Officer until the company's acquisition by AngioDynamics (NASDAQ: ANGO).

Prior to this, Mr. Elkins held various positions within Medtronic Vascular's Endovascular Unit, including Business Unit Manager, Vice President of R&D and Vice President of Business Development. During his tenure at Medtronic, Mr. Elkins oversaw operations pertaining to the TALENT and ANEURX AAA & TAA Endograft platforms, including the successful commercial launches of both product lines in both the U.S. and internationally. Mr. Elkins joined Medtronic via the acquisition of World Medical, the company that originally developed the TALENT AAA platform, where he was Vice President of Operations and Chief Technical Officer. Mr. Elkins joined World Medical after a series of operating and R&D roles at Cordis Endovascular Systems, Cordis Corporation and Haemonetics.

Mr. Elkins holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
